Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, has promised to run an all-inclusive government if elected president in 2027.
Obi who met with the leadership of Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation on September 16, said no part of the country would be left behind.
He stated in a post on his X after the meeting, that he remained committed
to building “an all-inclusive, united Nigeria where no part will be left behind.”
Obi who disclosed that the discussions focused on the state of the nation, particularly education, healthcare and poverty alleviation, thanked Afenifere leaders “for their courage for always standing out for fearless justice and the unity of our country, and urge them not to relent.”
The meeting was hosted by Oba Oladipo Olaitan, leader of Afenifere, who also heads a coalition of ethnic nationality groups, including PANDEF and the Middle Belt Forum.
The meeting was part of Obi’s consultations towards the 2027 presidential election.
He met with former President Goodluck Jonathan last week, in what people believed was to get the buy-in of the former president who is rumoured to be interested in the 2027 presidency.
