Oghe Social Development Association (OSDA), an Association of Oghe indigenes living in Abuja, has called for submission of names of indigent students from seven villages of Oghe, who will benefit from its scholarship programme.
The scholarship was instituted by the OSDA in 2020, to assist secondary schools students of Oghe extraction, achieve their academic dream.
The programme which is about to commence its fourth batch of beneficiaries, has so far paid the tuition fees of 105 students since inception.
Five qualified students are selected from each of seven Oghe communities, making a total of 35 students per batch, and their tuition fees paid from SS1 to SS3, including WAEC and NECO fees.
Chairman of the OSDA Education Committee Chief (Barr) Peter Ozoagu, in a statement, said the 4th batch of the beneficiaries will begin from “September 2024/25 admission into SS1 of various Secondary Schools in Oghe.
“Sequel to this, each community namely, Owe, Akama, Amankwo, Amansiodo, Neke, Oyofo and Iwollo, should screen and recommend 5 prospective SS1 students by September 2024/25 academic session.”
To qualify for the scholarship, Ozoagu explained that the would be beneficiaries must be indigenes of Oghe and are “schooling in any of the secondary schools in Oghe.
“Again it should be noted that their parents should be one of those who ordinarily will not be able to afford same.”
The various communities were given up till July 31, 2024 to make their nominations and send to the committee.
