American president, Donald Trump has ordered the U.S. military to wipe out Boko Haram and other Islamic terrorists in Nigeria.
Trump in a post on Truth Social on Saturday night, described Nigeria as a “disgraced country,” and disclosed that he has directed the United States Department of War to prepare for “possible action,” against the terror groups.
The president had earlier labeled Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern,” because of “thousands of Christians” being killed by radical Islamists.
Nigeria was listed among nations that the U.S. says have violated religious freedom.
He said he would order an immediate end to all aid and assistance to Nigeria.
Trump said in the post: “If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.
“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians! WARNING: THE NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT BETTER MOVE FAST!”
He, however, didn’t state the potential timing of any U.S. military action.
Trump had designated Nigeria a country of concern during his first term in the White House.
His Democratic successor Joe Biden removed it from the U.S. State Department list in 2021.
