The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) is in early lead in the Anambra State governorship election held on Saturday, November 8.
The party is leading in most of the about 98 percent of the polling unit results of the election posted on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result election Viewing (IReV) portal.
It was closely followed by the All Progressives Congress (APC), while the Labour Party came third.
The coalition platform, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is in the fourth position.
In Adazi Ani II Central School 1 in Aniocha local government, for instance, APGA candidate, Chukwuma Soludo got 43 votes. The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate scored 20 votes while the Labour Party candidate was credited with seven votes.
INEC is however, permitted by law to announce the winner of the election.
Nonetheless, there were allegations of vote buying and unavailability of result sheet.
The election also witnessed voter apathy and violation of ban on vehicular movement.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said it has made some arrests regards vote buying.
Spokesperson of the commission, Dele Oyewole, said one Emeka Ilokasia was arrested at Ward 2 in Njikoka Local Government Area, for alleged vote buying, while Nwachukwu Loretta was napped at Ward 2 (008), Awkuzu in Oyi Local Government Area; while Emuka Chuwudi was apprehended at Umunachi village in Dunukofia Local Government Area, for the same offense, for the same offense.
A first time voter had earlier confessed to journalists that she colloected money before she could vote in the election.
It is expected that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will announce the winner of the election on Sunday.
