The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike and team from Development Control, were on Tuesday humbled and prevented from demolishing structure believed to belong to a retired naval officer.
Wike and his team who arrived the premises met stern-looking officers who blocked accessing the site with army trucks.
There was a heated argument between the minister and young naval officer believed to be the leader of the team, who simply told him that he was carrying out an order.
The visibly angry Wike, was heard raining curses on the officer, and attempted to intimidate him. But the officer stood his ground.
After several unsuccessful attempts, Wike, disappointed, left the site, with FCTA officials and security operatives.
He was heard saying, “We cannot continue to act with impunity, we cannot continue this way, we cannot continue this way in the country.
“How can that man at his level not reach out and say, ‘Look, this is what I have,’ and instead send soldiers?”
It was later gathered that he reached the Chief of Defense Staff who promised to intervene in the matter.
