The Enugu State has announced the closure of Abakpa Nike Road, at the Last Bust Stop, and the diversion of traffic to other acclliery roads.
The closure which was announced by Ngozi Ngene, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, in a statement, is to last for three weeks.
The ministry stated that the closure, which commences at 12 midnight of Thursday, 2nd October 2025, is to allow for construction of a box culvert at the said location as part of the ongoing dualization project.

“This closure is necessary to allow the contractor complete the culvert construction effectively and safely, and within the specified timeframe,” the ministry added.
It regretted the inconvenience the closure might cause the motoring public, and called for understanding and cooperation during this period.
During the period of the closure, motorists were advised to use the alternative routes such as:
- Obinagu Road,
- Texaco – Amurri road – Nowas Junction – T-Junction,
- Liberty – Edward Nnaji Street- Ugwunwani Street- Corner Stone – T-Junction,
- Liberty – Edward Nnaji Street – Ogwuago – Harmony road – Nkwo Nike Junction / Nike Lake.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and earnestly plead with the general public and Abakpa residents in particular to bear with the state government as we strive to improve our road infrastructure for a better tomorrow,” the ministry pleaded.
