The parish priest of St. Francis Catholic Church, Kpegi, Abuja Archdiocese, Rev. Fr. Victor Uchenna Ilo, has advised Christian faithful not to lose hope but to always trust in God.
Fr. Ilo in a homily at annual thanksgiving mass by Oghe community in Abuja, to thank God for His protection and goodness to her members and their families through 2025, said no matter the situation they found themselves, they should look up to God for solution.
“We need not lose hope in any situation we pass through; we need not lose hope because of the way the nation is at the moment,” the cleric counseled.
He encouraged them to draw inspiration from Job and declare like him, “I know that my Redeemer liveth!”
Fr. Ilo told them that advent, a season in Christian calendar is a period of preparation for the coming of the Messaih; the preparation of one’s heart to be like Jesus Christ.
“For us to prepare ourselves, we must carry the cross, and the cross expects from us is to be patient. It doesn’t come at once; it is little by little, that’s why the Church has given us for the preparation,” he added.
He prayed for God’s grace and continued protection for members of Oghe Social Development Association (OSDA) and their families.
The occasion witnessed thanksgiving, songs of praise, presentation of Christmas gifts to widows and children, as well as entertainment.
President of OSDA, Chief Gerald Animalu, thanked members for their support and solicited their continued support.
