The Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) of St. Mary’s Parish, Akama Oghe, is N50 million richer, courtesy of Senator Osita Ngwu who represents Enugu West Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly.
This is just as the Igwe-elect of Akama-Oghe Community, Chief Onyeka Ofordile, has called for unity among the people, so as to engender peace and development.
The N50 million donation is to assist the women execute their hall project.
Senator Ngwu made the donation at the annual August meeting of the women.
He attended the meeting in company of member representing Ezeagu state constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Chima Obieze.
The CWO meeting coincided with the 2025 New Yam/Highmass Celebration of Akama Oghe Community.
Chief Ofordile, in a message to mark the events, appreciated the people for their contributions to the welfare of the community despite current economic recession.
“This season reminds us of the blessings of God and the strength we have as a people when we stand together,” he said.
The Igwe-elect who is still waiting for recognition by the Enugu State Government, disclosed that since his emergence, he has made conscious efforts to reach out to his co-contestants to reconcile with them.
“My desire is to reconcile with them and bring them onboard so that together we can move Akama Oghe forward.
“Leadership is not about division, it is about collaboration, inclusiveness, and service to the people.
“I therefore call on every son and daughter of Akama, especially those who may feel aggrieved, to let go of the past and embrace peace.
“Our community can only grow when we speak with one voice, work with one heart, and pursue one vision.
“This is a new chapter for Akama Oghe. Let us rise above our differences and build a legacy of unity, peace, and development for generations to come,” Igwe-elect advised.
This year’s Iwaji/Highmass was witnessed by many indigenes of Akama Oghe Community from home and diaspora, friends and well-wishers, including members representing Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Sunday Umeha, and Hon Obieze, both from the community.
